HIGH POINT – The International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. is getting together during the October High Point Market to help honor and raise money for a long-time sales rep and friend.
From 6-9 p.m. Oct. 16, IHFRA will hold a party to celebrate the life and contributions of Marty Berk, who serves on the IHFRA board of directors as second vice president of the executive committee and who also is a member of the International Casual Furniture Assn., a sister organization.
Berk has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease and recently has had to retire from each of his lines as it has been impossible for him to work.
The event being held at the Brown Truck Brewery at 1234 N. Main St. also aims to raise money for the purchase of a handicap accessible van, which will help Berk get out and about.
For IHFRA members who are wearing an IHFRA lapel pin, the first two drinks are free. All guests and friends of Marty Berk are invited to attend the event, which will feature live music and food trucks on site.
There is also a Go Fund Me page set up to help raise funds for the van that can be accessed by clicking here. Information about the page also will be available at the party.
