HNN video tour: Sleep Number’s new look

MINNEAPOLIS – Sleep Number, maker and retailer of smart beds and related home furnishings, introduced the latest iteration of its evolving store design here, with plans to roll out similar versions as it opens new stores and updates its more than 650-store existing footprint.

The redesign “prioritizes sustainability and blends elements of the human, physical and digital experience to improve in-store shopping in a way that’s unique in our industry,” the HNN 125 company said. The first to open was in late June, a 2,400-square-foot space in Edina, Minn., part of Sleep Number’s home market. Others quickly followed in West Bloomfield, Michigan and Aurora, Ill.

Angela Gearhart, vice president of brand experience told Home News Now the design can easily flex to fit the company’s various store sizes, which range from about 2,000 square feet to 4,000 square feet. Sleep Number did not disclose the size of the projected investment in the rollout, and said it’s still working out the timeframe and locations for existing store updates.

Gearhart took us on a quick tour of the key design elements and explained the thinking behind the remodel and brand update in the video below.
