Chris Pittman named senior VP of sales at Powell, Linon

Company also has hired Ron Holliday as VP of sales for Western US and Canada

HIGH POINT — Chris Pittman has been promoted to senior vice president of sales and national sales manager for the furniture division of full-line sister furniture resources Powell Home and Linon Home Décor.

He joined the company in July 2012 as vice president of sales, a role he held for nearly 10 years. He was promoted to group vice president of sales for the company’s furniture division in February 2022.

Before joining Powell Co., he was an independent sales representative for 11 years and before that was a sales representative for Simmons Bedding.

Pittman told Home News Now that in his new position he will be heading up the brick-and-mortar furniture store division of the company. His transition to the new role occurs following a period of significant sales growth in the furniture segment.

“In 2023, we grew our furniture store business by over 30%,” he said. “We are making major improvements to our product offerings, including drastic changes in our dining selection and a new direct import program with master bedroom and motion upholstery. These changes have been a big part of our recent success. My goal is to continue this success through 2024 as we expand our product selection in these key areas, become more important to our current customers and grow our customer base.”

The company also has hired Ron Holliday as vice president of sales for the Western United States and Canada. Holliday fills a role that had been vacant for some time and will be working with sales reps in the Western territories and also growing a part of the business that is mostly shipping product from the company’s San Bernadino, California, warehouse. In his new position, he reports to Pittman.

“Ron brings case goods experience as he was previously a sales manager for A-America,” Pittman said. “Ron started the first of the year and has already made exciting changes to our sales rep team and opened up several key dealers on the West Coast.”

Before joining Powell/Linon, Holliday was sales manager for A-America for four years and before that was vice president of sales at Greenington Fine Bamboo Furniture for seven and a half years.

He was also previously owner of Bedtime/Mountain Furniture and was a sales rep for Berkline and Klaussner, handling sales in the Pacific Northwest territory.
