LOS ANGELES — A philanthropic event unlike any other in the industry, the annual West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament has significant impact on City of Hope’s mission to provide world-class care, treatments and innovative research to patients with cancer and diabetes.
City of Hope is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States. City of Hope’s translational research and personalized treatment protocols have advanced care throughout the world for people with cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
Now in its 30th year, the West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament has raised over $18.5 million to accelerate the development of innovative treatments. The tournament has been a consistent source of support for City of Hope as it evolved into a national cancer care network.
City of Hope is extending its reach in many ways, thanks to the strong foundation furniture industry partners and others have built. With the recent acquisition of Cancer Treatment Centers of America and its network of care centers in Georgia, Arizona, Illinois and California, City of Hope is expanding access to its world-class cancer research and cancer care nationally. As a combined organization, City of Hope now serves approximately 115,000 patients each year, with more than 11,000 team members and 575 physicians across a network of oncology hospitals and outpatient centers.
AccessHope is a subsidiary of City of Hope that believes in putting the ever-growing body of cancer knowledge to work for the greater good. The company helps employers play a vital role in their employees’ cancer care by making the latest cancer knowledge available to community oncologists. AccessHope has grown significantly over the last three years, offering the benefit to 3.3 million members through 75 employers, including 21 Fortune 500 companies.
The West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament is one of two flagship events hosted by the International Home Furnishings Industry group in support of City of Hope’s fight against cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Formed in 1965 by a group of dedicated industry and community leaders, the International Home Furnishings Industry group is one of City of Hope’s oldest and most successful industry-based chapters, raising nearly $100 million to advance leading-edge research and treatment innovation for the benefit of patients and families everywhere.
