Publication names industry veteran Julie A. Palm editor in chief
HIGH POINT —The team behind the fastest growing publications in the home and casual furnishings industries is launching Decor News Now to bring trends, news and business-boosting ideas to interior designers, decorators and retailers. The Decor News Now weekly e-newsletter and website will debut in March, ahead of the Spring High Point Market. Group Publisher Rick Harrison, also publisher of the highly successful Home News Now and Casual News Now, has named industry veteran Julie A. Palm editor in chief of the new publication.
“Decor News Now will address the needs of higher end retail, as well as the designers and consumers they serve,” Harrison said. “Our focus on design and product trends, along with the focused news this category requires to make business decisions, will round out our stable of publications in solid fashion. The addition of Julie Palm to our team of editors and writers cements our position as the best editorial group serving the home furnishings industry.”
Palm began her career as a reporter and editor for daily newspapers in Texas. She started covering home furnishings as an editor for Home Accents Today when she moved to North Carolina and for more than a decade was editor in chief of BedTimes and also its sister publication, Sleep Savvy, covering the sleep products industry for manufacturers, retailers and suppliers. In 2013, she launched Palm Ink, working as an editor, writer, publications manager and consultant for a variety of clients both inside and outside the home furnishings industry.
“I am thrilled about this opportunity, which allows me to return to my roots in the industry, covering design and trends,” Palm said. “The pandemic has reignited people’s interests in their homes, which are centers of their lives, not just for family, but also for work and school. Now, more than ever, those homes need to beautiful, functional spaces, and it is design professionals — from interior designers to the growing number of retailers with in-house design centers — who can help them create their perfect home. With Decor News Now, we want to equip the design community with the news and information they need to best serve their clients and grow their businesses.”
Since Home News Now was launched in 2020 and Casual News Now was launched in 2021, they have rapidly grown their subscriber and advertising bases, bringing readers the news and analysis that only a veteran team can deliver, with Home News Now led by Executive Editor Clint Engel and Editor-in-Chief Tom Russell, and Casual News Now helmed by Editor-in-Chief Alex Milstein.
