MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Hooker Furnishings’ flagship brand — Hooker Furniture — turns 100 at next month’s High Point Market. To mark the centennial milestone, the company is kicking off a year-long celebration to chronicle its 100-year history of design leadership, culture, and legacy of giving.
“As we prepare to embark on our 100th year, I am honored to celebrate this incredible milestone with our employees, our partners, and our communities,” said Jeremy Hoff, chief executive officer of Hooker Furnishings. “Paying homage to those that paved the path before us, this achievement is a true testament to the foundation for growth built by our past leaders. In their combined 97 years of leading this company, Clyde Hooker Sr., Clyde Hooker Jr., and Paul B. Toms Jr. — along with their talented teams – drove the company to become what it is today: one of the nation’s largest publicly traded furniture sources.”
“In 2024 we will honor our anniversary with a variety of activities, none more important than those that demonstrate the values that these three gentlemen instilled in our company over the decades,” he added. “We have a rich heritage that is centered around enhancing the lives of the people we touch. Whether that’s through the products we make, the thousands of people we employ, the relationships we build with our partners, or the support we provide to our communities, Hooker Furnishings has always operated — and succeeded — by putting integrity, our team and our philanthropic culture at the forefront of everything we do.”
Serving as the cornerstone of its 100th anniversary celebration, the company is launching a signature philanthropic program – 100 Acts of Kindness – designed to amplify its spirit of giving in an even more meaningful way during its centennial year. The nation-wide program aims to further enhance the lives of those in need, broadening its reach to communities across the U.S.
Several additional initiatives are planned throughout the year, including the unveiling of a special logo and tagline, “A Century of Home.” In addition, the company plans to spotlight memorabilia from its archives and take a look back on the iconic designs that have furnished homes for decades.
To kick off its centennial year, the company will host an industry celebration — ‘A Century of Home’ – on Friday, April 12 from 5:30pm – 9pm at its High Point showroom, located on the third floor of Showplace.
The event will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, music by Liquid Pleasure, signature drinks, photo booths and giveaways. It is open to retailers and interior designers with a valid Market pass.
