American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame calls for 2021 nominations

HIGH POINT — Nominations for the class of 2021 induction into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame are open through February 1.

All members of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation are eligible to nominate and to second a nomination. Nomination forms can be found here.

“One of the special benefits of being a member of the foundation is your privilege to nominate someone for induction into the Hall of Fame,” said foundation board President Martin Ploy in a release.

“We all know that special individual who has risen above others with the way they have impacted our industry with their creativity, innovation, philanthropy, and their ability to influence change and initiate action. This is the kind of person who has created a proud legacy and deserves consideration for induction.”

During a five-month selection process, a seven-member selection committee considers an extensive list of individuals to determine who most exemplifies enduring excellence, superior accomplishments, innovation and creativity, and philanthropic generosity of their time, talents and resources, according to the release. Final selection is determined by a points-based system by the selection committee members.  

To qualify for consideration, the individual must conduct business in the United States, have served in the industry for at least 15 years, have created a legacy as a positive influence and champion of the industry, and should have achieved the pinnacle of their careers and are a least 60 years old, the group said.  For posthumous nominations, the individual must have been deceased for at least 12 months prior to the date of the nomination.  

To submit a nomination, a re-nomination or a posthumous nomination, Foundation members are required to complete the Nomination Form found on the website and include a 300 dpi digital photo of the candidate. All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another foundation member. 

The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1 and sent to American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., 202 Neal Place, Suite 101, High Point, NC  27262.

New inductees will be honored at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame induction celebration on Oct. 17 during the Fall High Point Market.
