Compass Sleep Products to produce 1,600 mattresses for student dorms at University of Kentucky

GREENVILLE, Florida—Compass Sleep Products has signed its first contract deal with a 1,600-mattress order from the University of Kentucky for its student dormitories. The transaction was done in partnership with Greystar, one of the largest real estate management companies in the United States.

Through the partnership, Compass is manufacturing an exclusive private-label mattress collection with pure guard padding, a six-inch, 680 pocket-coil spring and two inches of Serene foam, finished with a tape-edge and an FR nylon zipper cover.

“Sleep has not always been considered a key selling point for universities, but when you think about how demanding the life of a college student really is with extracurricular activities, sports, and studying, it makes sense to provide students with mattresses that will increase the amount of REM sleep they experience,” said CEO of Compass Sleep Products Ricky Riley.

Indeed, without a good night’s sleep, Riley said, “grades suffer, sports performance suffers, and performance overall is less than optimal. Greystar is putting an emphasis on the quality of sleep that students experience, and that is the kind of company we want to partner with. When we looked at their core values – integrity, equality, professionalism, accountability, service, and teamwork – we found we were incredibly aligned.”

Founded in 1993 with a desire to find better support in rental housing units, Greystar has evolved to service roughly 740,000 units and beds in avenues including rental housing, apartment complexes, and student housing both on and off campuses. The company currently employes over 22,000 people, services 234 global markets, and has 66 offices.
