HIGH POINT – Tom Edmonds, a long-time furniture industry journalist, is joining Home News Now as retail editor, a role in which he will report on the retail segment of the business.
Edmonds worked as reporter for Furniture Today for 12 years from early 1993 to early 2005. During that time, he covered case goods, small office/home office and retail. His series of in-depth reports on top furniture retailers across the country and on major metro markets led to the creation of a Furniture Today supplement known as Retail Ideas
Before that he was editor of ASTA Agency Management, a division of Greensboro, N.C.-based Pace Communications. He also worked as reporter for The Hour in Norwalk Ct. before joining Pace.
After leaving Furniture Today in 2005, Edmonds worked a sales representative for domestic leather upholstery manufacturer American Leather for more than 14 years, covering the Southeast.
“I was a fan of Tom’s deep, insightful writing during his time at Furniture Today, and I’m excited to have him reengaged in covering our diverse retail landscape,” said Rick Harrison, founding publisher of Home News Now. “Bringing Tom on board further cements our position as the best publishing group with the best editorial team in our industry.”
Tom Russell, editor-in-chief, said that while Edmonds was at Furniture Today, he provided a level of editorial excellence that ultimately helped shape his own knowledge and approach to covering the industry. He looks forward to Edmonds bringing that same level of expertise to Home News Now.
“We are excited to have Tom join us at Home News Now,” Russell said. “Tom is a seasoned industry journalist who has developed many industry relationships on the retail and supply side of the business, not only as a reporter, but also as a sales representative covering an important region of the U.S. market. We welcome him to our team and look forward to the contributions he makes through his many connections with retailers around the country.”
