A conversation with Ron Wanek, Ashley Furniture

ARCADIA, Wis. — In this exclusive interview with Home News Now, the chairman and founder of Ashley Furniture talks about Ashley Charitable Foundation’s recent $500,000 donation to Itawamba Community College.

The school already has strong educational offerings through its School of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) as well its Information Systems Technology, Robotics and Automation and Welding and Cutting programs, which are offered through the School of Career Education. This latest funding will help launch a program in truck driver education and truck driver training, a new initiative for the school.

“We work with them in many, many different areas and they are a great provider of skills and now they are going to be great in transportation,” Wanek said of the new driver education program.

While the contribution that Ashley has made to the school in this latest round of funding is significant, it’s also just a portion of the funds that Ashley has donated to education over the years. Here Wanek discusses why Ashley takes such a proactive and supportive stance in education and why it’s important in helping to nurture and develop the workforce of tomorrow.
