by HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – Upholstery manufacturer Kuka Home said it has completed construction on a 775,000-square-foot dining and accent furniture plant here.
The addition, which began construction in March 2021, is the final phase of the 4.1 million-square-foot plant, the company said. Expected to employ some 3,000 workers over time, it will begin shipping this month.
The company’s mix of dining and accent furniture includes accent chairs, dining chairs, barstools, ottomans, storage benches and home office.
“This new facility allows us to expand the breadth of products manufactured in Vietnam and grow the dining and accent chair category that has been a core part of our business for years,” said Matt Harrison, president of Kuka Home North America, noting that the company also plans to pursue other categories in the region.
The company has been producing motion upholstery in Vietnam since 2019 as part of a strategy to avoid tariffs on Chinese-made products. It added select stationary frames to the mix in September 2021.
Its upholstery plant is roughly 500 meters from the new dining and accent furniture plant.
“Our expansions have been entirely customer-driven,” Harrison added. “We are excited about the completion of this final phase of our Binh Phuoc campus, offering our customers tariff-free goods.”
