by KENOSHA, Wisc. — Logistics services provider GXO Logistics is closing its general warehouse and storage facilities here, a move that will impact 146 workers starting in mid-February.
The company filed a WARN Act notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on Dec. 14. It said the facility closure is permanent and will being impacting facility workers around Feb. 13.
In a letter to the department, the company’s human resources department said that all employees have been notified of their separation dates and that all separations will take place within a 14-day window of Feb. 13.
The bulk of the positions affected are 43 Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operators, followed by 38 materials handlers. A variety of other administrative and operational positions ranging from clerks to senior engineers, logistics and supply chain systems analysts and inventory control specialists also will be laid off by the facility closure.
Based in Greenwich, Connecticut, GXO is one of the largest contract logistics companies in the world, serving a variety of sectors including retail and e-commerce as well as technology, healthcare, agriculture and food and beverage industries.
Earlier this year, the company also announced that it was closing its Sturtevant, Wisconsin, facilities, a move that impacted 144 workers.
