Broad River seeks to donate 500 mattresses to children in need

Fort Mill, SC – Broad River Retail (BRR) will donate a mattress to a child in need for every mattress sold at all 31 Broad River Retail-owned and operated Ashley stores from Friday, August 12 through Monday, August 15, 2022.

“Thousands of children in Broad River Retail’s communities don’t have a bed,” Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail President and CEO said. “We believe that every child should have a good night’s sleep and a bed to call their own. Thanks to Ashley’s Hope to Dream program, we can help make that happen.”

Broad River Retail participates in Ashley’s Hope to Dream every day throughout the year by donating a portion of every mattress sold to the program. A portion of each mattress sale is donated to Hope To Dream, which provides bed frames and mattresses to local charitable partners that distribute beds, bedding, and pillows to families in need.

“During our unique, four-day Buy-a-Mattress-Give-a-Mattress Event, we are accelerating our everyday efforts in order to amplify the gift of sleep to local children in need,” Malouf said. “This provides an opportunity to participate in supporting local children in need with the purchase of a new mattress from any of our stores.”

Organizations served include:

Asheville, NC – Homeward Bound
Augusta, GA – Restart Augusta
Charlotte, NC – Beds for Kids
Columbia, SC – Family Promise of the Midlands
Durham, NC – Housing for New Hope
Raleigh, NC – Green Chair Project
Upstate South Carolina – Miracle Hill Ministries

“Broad River Retail’s commitment to furnishing life’s best memories doesn’t stop at furniture,” Kim Harkness, Senior Director, Marketing, Communications, and Community Outreach said. “We strive to make a lasting difference in the areas we serve throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.”

Broad River Retail’s goal is to donate 500 mattresses from August 12 through August 15. BRR has donated 372 mattresses in 2022, with a goal of 1,222 mattresses by the end of the year. Since 2010, Hope To Dream has provided over 125,000 children in North America with beds for a better night’s sleep.
