Consumers have reported a dozen instances where mattress support pins have become loose
NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Lifestyle retailer Crate & Barrel has recalled more than 3,200 of its Hampshire cribs because of a potential fall hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that although no injuries have been reported, there have been 12 reports of incidents where the mattress support pins have become loose.
In addition to those units being recalled in the U.S., an additional 120 have been recalled in Canada for a total of 3,320.
The recall involves the Hampshire cribs, which were sold in several finishes including blush, olive, white, gray and natural brown tones. They have one of the following SKU numbers — 246898, 534758, 534987, 535020 and 405394, along with the brand “Crate & Barrel” listed on a label positioned on the mattress support board.
Made in China, they were sold online at www.crateandbarrel.com from June 2022 through November 2023 for between $600 and $800.
Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the cribs and contact the company for a free repair or a full refund. The retailer also is contacting all known purchasers directly.
