by HICKORY, N.C. — Jackson Catnapper is among the latest companies in the industry to reduce surcharges.
In a Sept. 29 letter to dealers, the upholstery manufacturer said that it is reducing its current surcharge of 34.5% to 31.5% for Catnapper. It is reducing the rate for Jackson from 33.5% to 30.5%. Both take effect for invoiced shipments on Oct. 17.
The company said this was due to reductions in commodity costs.
“During the pandemic, JFI opted to solely use surcharges to manage against the barrage of rising costs the company experienced,” the letter said. “It was our belief that using a surcharge, as opposed to raising the base price of every item was the most fair and transparent way to handle pricing during this unprecedented period. As promised, we are passing along savings by reducing the surcharge rates as we experience reductions.”
The company said that it will continue to monitor its raw materials costs and “be proactive” in adjusting future rates should it see further reductions in component and transportation costs.”
