AUSTIN — Four Hands, the leading global designer and wholesaler of trendsetting lifestyle home furnishings, will be launching their latest collection and unveiling their new collaboration with designer Thomas Bina in their 30,000 square-foot showroom at High Point Market. Showcasing over 900 pieces, Four Hands will feature a mix of best sellers and their newest introductions across 10 product categories including art, rugs, lighting and outdoor. The new collection focuses on comfort and warmth, featuring vintage-inspired leathers and heavy textured upholstery like boucle, shearling and corduroy. Customers will also see reimagined iterations of Four Hands’ top-selling products, such as familiar shapes refreshed in new textiles and materials
Forgoing their usual trips overseas to factories and markets around the globe, the Four Hands design team, helmed by Vice President of Design Adam Dunn, took inspiration from unexpected destinations closer to home like the famous Round Top Antique Fair 80 miles outside of Austin. Attendees can see this rediscovered inspiration in Four Hands’ first-ever release of hand-knotted rugs in the Arwen Collection. Inspired by vintage rugs spotted at Round Top, these intricately patterned premium rugs are made to last and be passed down over time like an heirloom.
The rugs are 100% handmade from weaving to finishing with up to 40 knots per square inch, some crafted from New Zealand wool for unmatched sheen and softness. Each hand-knotted rug is designed with aged color variations and shaved down to achieve a worn, lived-in look. The rugs will be offered in 8×10’, 9×12’ and 10×14’ sizes for larger living spaces.
Continuing with their focus on producing high-quality art in-house, they’ve brought in incredibly talented emerging artists, including Frank Wolsky, Aileen Fitzgerald, Coup d’Esprit and many others, focusing on art methods that include collage, hand sketching and paper techniques such as hand burning. All of these artists design specifically for Four Hands—with the direction of the Four Hands product design team—and the works are then reproduced and handmade at Four Hands’ new state-of-the-art studio in Austin, Texas. Four Hands will be showcasing 100+ pieces of new art at High Point.
“The art experience at market is going to be so different from what customers have seen before. It will be more curated and will display a breadth of technique, content type, and subject matter,” said Dunn. “Customers will have the ability to have self-expression when shopping our art because the pieces feel unique and one –of –a kind, and can easily be blended among traditional, modern or more iconic styles.”
Also debuting at High Point is Thomas Bina for Four Hands. For the new collaboration, Bina worked alongside Brazilian designer Ronald Sasson to create pieces featuring sculptural curves and negative space that feel relevant, yet timeless. Inspired by their global travels, the two designers worked with unique material combinations, such as concrete and wood, weaving Brazilian design elements – such as inflated silhouettes, low profiles and strong lines – throughout to create sophisticated, relaxed pieces. Thomas Bina for Four Hands will focus on bringing a unique design perspective incorporating compelling craftsmanship into a combination of hard and soft materials that create an elevated juxtaposition exuding luxury.
Despite ongoing global supply chain disruptions, Four Hands understands the importance of shorter lead times and is focused on showcasing products that designers and retailers can have in their hands quickly. The majority of items at the market are expected to be in stock within 90 days.
