Long-time senior executive team member fills a role formerly held by Carol Bugg, who recently retired
EASTON, Md. — Decorating Den Interiors has named David Haseley director of design, succeeding Carol Bugg, who held the role for 40 years before her recent retirement.
In this role, Haseley adds to his responsibilities as senior vice president, merchandising and national marketing.
He has been in the merchandising and national marketing role with Decorating Den Interiors for the past 12 and a half years.
In his expanded role, he reports to James S. Bugg Jr., president and chief executive officer.
“As part of David’s merchandising responsibility, he has been a constant coach and advocate for excellence in design,” Bugg said. “He provides ongoing education on how our suppliers enhance the ability of our design professionals to provide unique design solutions for clients. He also develops trend reports after each High Point market for our designers to use as seminars to present in their local markets.”
Before joining Decorating Den Interiors, Haseley was vice president of sales and national sales manager at Hunter Douglas Hospitality for just over five years. For about seven and a half years before that, he was vice president of sales for Fabricut Contract, where he consulted with designers throughout the U.S. and Canada to inspire hotel interior designs that would use Fabricut fabrics.
For 12 years prior, he was managing director of corporate-owned regions at Decorating Den Interiors.
“David has been a key partner in the development of DDI for over 30 years,” Bugg said. “He was a leading franchise owner in Florida and one of the first to create a team. He moved to Cincinnati where his primary focus was to open franchises and build the Southern Ohio Northern Kentucky region, which eventually became our largest region at that time. He created many designs for satisfied clients and truly knows our business from inspiration to reality.”
Carol Bugg, ASID, and her husband, James Bugg, joined Decorating Den in 1984. They transformed it from a shop-at-home drapery franchise company to a full-service interior design and home furnishings business model with franchises throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Haseley said believes that moving forward the team will continue to fulfill that vision.
“We want everything we do to work toward our overwhelming goal of being known for extraordinary design,” Haseley said. “I am confident that with our extensive LIVV Home Collection of fine furnishing suppliers we will continue to build that reputation.”
