Universal hires Jim Roberts as VP sales for the western region

HIGH POINT — Full line furniture resource Universal Furniture has hired industry veteran Jim Roberts as vice president sales for the western region.

In this role, he will focus on developing relationships with retail and designer accounts in the western portion of the U.S., joining A.J. Filloy, who manages sales for the eastern region.

He comes to the company from Serta Simmons Bedding where he was most recently senior vice president, sales. Before that he was vice president, sales for BekaertDeslee.

Previously he was vice president, sales for Nomaco Home Furnishings and before that was vice president, specialty sales at Tempur Sealy, where he worked for 16 years in a variety of positions that also included director, sales, Southeast, district sales manager, Southeast and key account manager.

In his new role, Roberts reports to Sean O’Connor, president.
