by HOUSTON — Ashley licensee Dufresne Spencer Group has opened its new flagship luxury lifestyle furniture store Worth & Co. here as part of an effort to expand its footprint into more upscale furnishings — mixed in with apparel, accessories and even live entertainment.
The 40,000-square-foot store is located in the upscale River Oaks area of Houston and offers a line of fully customizable furniture along with a café that features a lounge area with seating and a stage for live music.
It also has a design center featuring different rug designs and luxury interior paint colors, an area devoted to apparel and accessories and a spa-inspired space called Relax that has recliners and massage chairs.
Home News Now first reported plans for the new store concept earlier this year. It was initially planned for a spring opening but encountered some delays that pushed the opening to the fall.
A private opening was held Oct. 26 and attended by about 150 people. This was followed by a grand opening event featuring food and live music on Oct. 28 that drew more than 200.
“It was worth the wait,” Jeff Edgeworth, executive vice president of Dufresne Spencer Group, told Home News Now of the opening. “The store turned out as pretty and as beautiful as we planned it a year ago. We have created something very unique and different for the furniture industry and that is what I am excited about.”
Key furniture brands at the store include Bernhardt, Sherrill, Hickory White, Vanguard, Four Hands, Dovetail and Gabby Home, and key bedding vendors include Tempur-Pedic and Stearns & Foster.
