DIETERICH, Ill. — The Wright family, owner of Wright’s Furniture & Flooring, is excited to announce the opening of the Wright Family Center.
“This project truly wouldn’t have been possible without the support and help of the community,” said Tom Wright, chairman of Wright’s Furniture & Flooring. “The Development Committee has really been a driving force behind this, which includes Nick and Brittny Gipson, Brent and Charity Bohnhoff and Cory Niebrugge. I am looking forward to the memories our family, friends and community will now make at the Wright Family Center.”
The center includes Montessori Kids Universe, a student day care for up to 50 children, a 24-hour multipurpose fitness center, three community rooms and an indoor walking track. The Wright family, which has been long-time advocates for the project, purchased the naming rights for the community center in the spring of 2022, naming it the Wright Family Center. Traci Bruns has been hired as the director of the facility and will help with oversight of programs. The center is located adjacent to Dieterich Unit #30 K-12 School.
“It is so exciting to see this community center finally open its doors,” said John Wright, president of Wright’s Furniture and Flooring. “Our family has always cared about the development of the Dieterich community, and this is a project that we know will make a tremendous difference for a lot of people. Wright’s Furniture & Flooring has been around for more than 130 years and our success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our community. This is our way of giving back.”
The community center is a shared project with the village of Dieterich and many other agencies, volunteers and businesses including Wright’s Furniture & Flooring. The group has been working together since fall 2019 to fund and build the center. Several of the major sponsors include the Dieterich Community Development Corporation, Dieterich Bank, Melvin & Shirley Wohltman, HSHS St. Anthony, Dieterich Unit #30 Schools, Bohnhoff Family and Dieterich Park District among others.
Wright said there are countless additional sponsors, donors, volunteers, businesses and associations that have brought this dream to life. Wright said he’d also like to thank Gisele Hamm and Linda Lee Blaine for implementing the community-wide mapping that got this project started.
Several youth and adult programs and leagues have already begun, including volleyball, basketball, pickleball and more.
