Horizon Home eliminates equipment surcharges

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Case goods and upholstery manufacturer Horizon Home said it is eliminating all existing equipment surcharges from future invoices effective Nov. 11.

The company said that this will drop the current surcharge of .14 per cube, or $450 per truckload, to zero. The surcharge has been in effect since mid-2021.

It said that this was possible after it was able to negotiate a 50% drop in its equipment surcharge with various carriers. It is absorbing the additional 50% cost in order to eliminate the entire surcharge.

“We thank everyone for your understanding during the Covid period,” said Felipe Orozco, vice president, sales, noting that the company looks forward to further stability in freight costs and pricing. “We look forward to putting past us this challenging time for the industry in general.”
