Howard Miller execs share insights into company’s success as domestic producer

ZEELAND, Mich. — In late June, Home News Now Editor-in-Chief Tom Russell visited the manufacturing facilities of Howard Miller and sister company Hekman Furniture. In this exclusive video, he interviews company executives Jim O’Keefe, vice president of sales, and Dawn LaMaire, customer service manager. Together, they share insights on what has made the company competitive as a domestic producer of wood furniture. The message? It not only has to do with the capabilities of the company’s 300,000-square-foot plant to build quality, heirloom furniture, but also its talented workforce of 150 people, not including staff in the administrative offices.

They also discuss the challenges that the company faced during the pandemic and how — as it approaches its 100-year birthday in 2026 — these challenges have made the company even stronger and valued as a domestic producer. Whether it be serving residential furniture retailers and designers that make up a large part of its business, or on the growing contract/hospitality side of the business, the company continues to do well thanks to its efficiencies and ability to work smarter and more efficiently. These and other insights show why the company matters in today’s marketplace and how it looks to get even better in the months and years ahead.
