SAN FRANCISCO — Pottery Barn Kids, a division of Williams-Sonoma, has issued a recall of its Penny convertible cribs because of a potential laceration hazard posed by the unit’s end panel.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the end panel can become loose, and thus expose sharp edges. The company has received two reports of the end panels separating; however, no injuries have been reported.
The recall impacts about 310 of the Penny convertible crib with model number 2850473, which can be found on the underside of the unit. Made from radiata pine in a French white finish, it has scalloped details at the base and can convert to a toddler bed.
Although the recall impacts just a small number of units, it alerts manufacturers, importerss and other retailers to the types of hazards that can occur with youth or baby furniture.
Made in Indonesia and imported by Williams-Sonoma, d/b/a Pottery Barn Kids of San Fransciso, these cribs were sold online at www.potterybarnkids.com from September 2022 through April this year for about $900.
The CPSC has advised consumers to immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact the company to set up delivery and installation of new end panels and removal of the old end panels. Consumers also can choose to receive a full refund. The company also is contacting all known purchasers directly.
