ARCADIA, Wis. — Ashley Furniture has recalled more than 260,000 power sofas, loveseats and recliners because of a fire hazard involving an LED cupholder that can overheat.
The recall involves 253,000 units sold in the United States and another 9,450 sold in Canada.
The company said it is aware of six reports of the cupholder overheating, resulting in fire and smoke damage. No injuries have been reported, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which posted the recall on its website this week.
The recall involves the Party Time loveseats, sofas and recliners sold under the Signature Design line by Ashley Furniture. The power relining units feature power controls and integrated LED lighting and USB charging ports. They are sold in black and white with the model numbers posted on a barcode at the bottom of each unit.
Made in China and Vietnam by Happy Smart Furnishings and by Colia Leather of Cambodia, they were sold at Ashley stores and other furniture stores nationwide and online at Ashleyfurniture.com from November 2018 through March 2023 for between $900 and $1,800.
Consumers have been advised to immediately unplug the units and contact Ashley Furniture Industries for a free repair.

In a statement issued to Home News Now regarding the recall, Ashley Furniture stated, “The safety of our employees and customers are our top priority. As such, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Ashley Furniture Industries LLC is conducting a voluntary recall of the Party Time loveseat, recliner and sofa, which were manufactured by a third party.”
