HPMA-sponsored initiative highlights region’s southern hospitality

HIGH POINT — Marketgoers from around the world say that the key differentiator setting the High Point Market apart from other
trade shows is the genuine sense of hospitality that they feel when they are visiting. Emanating from the area’s residents and businesses, the region’s warmth and graciousness pervades marketgoers’ experience.

As part of an ongoing and broadening program to recognize and acknowledge that friendly atmosphere that makes market special, the
High Point Market Authority is using one of the south’s most beloved phrases — Fancy Meeting You Here — as the focus of an industry and community campaign developed to celebrate the shared appreciation the market has for our community and vice versa.

The High Point Market Authority and Visit High Point are encouraging local businesses and service providers that have direct contact with market attendees to show their pride and join this campaign as they welcome guests to the semiannual market that occurs every April and October. The outreach is designed to encourage continued goodwill engagement between the local community and attendees of our region’s largest event. The Fancy Meeting You Here messaging will be shared on buttons, window clings, signs and in social media for all to take part in.

“The Fancy Meeting You Here initiative conveys how our visitors are traditionally welcomed with open arms and genuine sense of graciousness that is authentic to our region and our citizenry,” said Tammy Nagem, president and chief executive officer of the High Point Market Authority. “Those who interact with the market guests play a key factor in the overall experience and our market’s success. We hope that everyone from airport information teams to ride-share drivers, shuttle bus staff, hotels, motels, restaurants, bars and pubs staffers will show their support by wearing the campaign buttons and adding the clings to their windows.”

Also, to show their appreciation, market notables will be sharing video messages of thanks to the community. The videos will be shown across multiple social media platforms and outlets along with various city and business websites following the April market.

“Plans are underway to continue to build on this campaign to encompass more of the Triad and to highlight our world-renowned hospitality in a variety of ways. ‘Fancy Meeting You Here’ is just the beginning,” Nagem said.
