Hillsdale Furniture recalls 821 bunk beds

Consumers should contact retailers, company for a free replacement ladder

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Case goods resource Hillsdale Furniture has recalled 821 bunk beds because of a potential entrapment hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently reported.

The CPSC said that the space between the second rung of the bed’s ladder and the lower bunk frame is wider than 3.5 inches. This poses an entrapment hazard when the mattress is removed.

The recall involves the company’s Flynn twin-over-full bunk beds with ladders, bearing the model numbers 2184-7080B, 2311-4080B, 2184-7080BASI and 2311-4080BASI. Made with pine, these beds have a white and gray finish. Only the bunk beds with ladders are part of the recall.

Made in Vietnam and imported by Hillsdale Furniture LLC of Louisville, Kentucky, the beds were sold at American Signature and Value City Furniture stores nationwide and online at www.valuecity.com from May 2019 through April 2022 for about $1,200.

Although no injuries or incidents have been reported, the CPSC said that consumers should block children’s access to the units and contact American Signature or Value City for a free replacement ladder. The CPSC also said that Hillsdale, through Value City or American Signature, is providing a replacement ladder with repair instructions to all known purchasers. Hillsdale also is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Consumers can also contact Value City Furniture toll-free at 888-751-8552 or American Signature Furniture toll-free at 888-751-8553 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at https://www.valuecityfurniture.com/safety-recalls or https://www.americansignaturefurniture.com/safety-recalls or https://www.valuecityfurniture.com and click on Safety Recalls or https://www.americansignaturefurniture.com/ and click on Safety Recalls for more information.
