Susan Dickenson joins Home News Now

HIGH POINT — Susan Dickenson has joined Home News Now as an editorial partner, focusing on home décor, accents and decorative accessories.

Dickenson has more than two decades of experience covering home products and interiors for consumer and trade publications. She is the former editor-in-chief of Home Accents Today, where she spent 14 years covering the retail, design and manufacture of “jewelry for the home” – researching and reporting on retail operations, emerging technologies, design trends, marketing/merchandising and consumer behavior in the decorative accessories, accent furniture, rugs, lamps/lighting, wall décor, garden decor and home textiles categories.

Early in her career, Dickenson worked in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia as a communications and marketing executive in the public and private sectors, and spent several years testing emerging internet and search engine technologies at Perot Systems Corporation (now Dell). At Home Accents Today, she was an early adopter of digital and social media, launching, writing and promoting the brand’s voice and content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

“I’m so excited to be a part of this new venture,” Dickenson said. “After working alongside HNN’s Clint Engel and Jennifer Bringle for years (same company, but different publications), there aren’t many editors in the industry I admire and respect more than these two, both professionally and personally.

A native of High Point, N.C., Dickenson earned a B.S. in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982. She has a passion for fabrics, is an avid quilter, enjoys fly fishing with her husband, has raised “three amazing daughters,” and looks forward to holding her first (grand)son in November.
