Bassett McNab relaunches with first fabric collection debut in 20+ years

COLMAR, Pa. — Under new ownership, Bassett McNab has relaunched its iconic designer fabric line with a blend of new patterns and updated classics in a Fall 2020 collection.

The relaunch comes after a 20-year hiatus of collection introductions and after the 2019 acquisition of the business by Stout Textiles, a move that combined two Philadelphia family brands with a rich textile history. In a release, the company noted its storyline has come full circle as Charles Stout was one of four partners in the 1908 firm Basset McNab & Co.

“Launching Fall 2020, the new collection and updated brand aesthetic stays true to its enduring appeal while bringing to life the relaxed luxury that appeals to today’s high-end buyer,” Bassett McNab said in a release.

While COVID pushed back our original relaunch timeline, we’re now launching the first collection exactly one year after the acquisition,” said John Greenawalt, vice president of operations. “It feels quite serendipitous.”

Led by Creative Director and industry veteran Anne Hahn-Waddell, the collection features seven patterns each offered in three to six colorways with an additional 25 SKUs of supporting woven fabrics.

“Sifting through the archive images was like paging through an old dusty high school yearbook,” Hahn-Waddell said. “I remember so many of the patterns —  some with dated color combinations so outrageous I had to smile. The archives definitely had a unique Basset McNab voice that, with some editing, I knew would be relevant.

“The work resulted in “a fresh, classically modern American style, following in the legacy of design greats like Elsie de Wolfe, David Hicks and Dorothy Draper, who all pioneered a brighter, lighter, and more streamlined style still celebrated today,” she said.

The new collection “is marked by reimagined chinoiserie, traditional ikats, subtle textures, garden florals and classic trellis fretwork,” the company said. “The color stories encompass shades of watery blue and teal, desert corals with soft pinks, woodland neutrals, and a few saturated shades of gray and navy. The designs marry approachability with style and sophistication.”

The collection is now available in showrooms across the United States with Bassett McNab showroom partners: Travis & Company, Atlanta; J Lambeth & Company, Washington, DC; A Hoke Ltd, Charlotte, N.C.; and EC Dicken, Dallas.
