Hooker Furniture launching 2 whole-home collections at market

HIGH POINT – Hooker Furniture is introducing two major whole-home collections at the spring High Point Market. Modern Mood features a modern aesthetic, and Retreat offers a serene resort-inspired look. Adding more than 160 pieces to the company’s portfolio, the collections draw inspiration from very distinct sources, yet both were designed to appeal to consumers across many regions.

“While taking cues from a variety of geographic regions, our new collections were intentionally designed to live in a wide range of homes,” said Mike Harris, president of Hooker case goods and upholstery. “Our Modern Mood collection includes pieces that can easily transition from a penthouse suite to a refurbished loft, to an urban home or a coastal abode. And, while our Retreat collection was clearly inspired by tropical getaways like Maldives, Fiji and Antigua, we were intentional about designing the collection to go far beyond just a ‘coastal look.’”

“Unbound by geographical design, Modern Mood presents itself as an evolution of design choices, spanning a variety of decades and design movements, while maintaining an unmistakably modern aesthetic that transcends time,” added Jenni Jungers, executive vice
president of merchandising for Hooker Furniture.

The 90-piece collection includes bedroom, dining room, home office, accent and occasional items characterized by substantive forms with soft architectural details. Elevated materials and brushed metal accents in a warm pewter finish are evident throughout the collection, including metal banding and edging as well as marble and glass accents.

Crafted with flat-cut quartered oak veneer with wire-brushed detailing, Modern Mood is presented in two finishes: Mink and Diamond. Delivering a dark, earthy brown with notes of black, Mink delivers a timeless aesthetic. A much lighter presentation is achieved with the crystal-like alabaster and pewter hues of the Diamond finish, delivering a soft sophistication.

Standout pieces include a dramatic leg dining table, an arched display case, a bistro table with metal tulip base, a wood panel platform bed with metal inlays and a statement-making upholstered panel bed.

The second collection being launched this spring, Retreat, is crafted with flat-cut cathedral oak veneers and is characterized by two distinct finishes. Each finish is transparent by design to showcase the unique grain patterns of the veneer. Dune is light as sand and smooth as a shore after a receding tide. The second finish, Black Sand was inspired by the black silk sands found on the shorelines of exotic beaches of Maui and Tahiti.

“Inspired by serene, tropical resort destinations that offer an escape from the pressures of modern life, Retreat is designed to help consumers replicate these peaceful and tranquil environments within their home,” said Jungers.

The collection is presented in two distinct personalities: Island Oasis and Modern Zen. Island Oasis intermingles both finishes, creating a tropical retreat-inspired vibe accentuated with organic details such as rope, cane, travertine and woven accents. Highlights include a
dramatic pole-cane-inspired poster bed, island-influenced dining pieces and several upholstered accent pieces using printed and woven textiles and soft sage-toned leather. A few pops of accent finishes called Seagrass and Lagoon can be found on select pieces, enhancing the tropical mood of the collection.

Modern Zen delivers a tranquil personality with a contemporary twist that showcases the Dune finish, which is enhanced with accent items in Black Sand. Several pieces incorporate woven cane, dramatic split bamboo-inspired accents as well as travertine stone. Highlights include a woven-cane panel bed with clean modern lines and a variety of case pieces featuring geometric patterns and spa-inspired accents. Upholstered stationary and accent seating — available in sage and caramel tone leathers — complete the Zen narrative.

Adding the finishing touch, the collection’s hardware is custom designed to match each personality. Look for reed-inspired designs in Island Oasis and gently textured designs in Modern Zen. Both hardware options are featured in a soft pewter-plated finish.

Hooker Furniture, a division of Hooker Furnishings, is showcasing both collections in its newly opened High Point showroom, encompassing the entire third floor of Showplace. The company is holding a social event from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, to mark the launch of the new collections and new space.
