ST. CATHARINES, Ontario — Family-owned retailer Tepperman’s is expanding its footprint here with a new 44,000-square-foot showroom that will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 3.
Employing about 50 people, this is the company’s seventh store in southwestern Ontario. Its other locations are in Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ancaster, Sarnia and Chatham.
Located at 399 Louth Street in St. Catharines, the company chose to add this store in response to “the city’s vibrant community, economic growth and shared values of sustainability and family.”
“We are honored to bring Tepperman’s to St. Catharine’s,” said Andrew Tepperman, the retailer’s third-generation president of the 99-year-old business. “Not only is it the right location for business, it’s about embedding ourselves within the fabric of the community and contributing to its growth and vibrancy.”
In addition to lifestyle vignettes showcasing numerous furniture categories including youth furniture, the store features a combination of LED and natural lighting, along with clearly defined aisles for easy customer access, plus a café featuring free coffee and popcorn.
It also has a 60-square-foot indoor garden area featuring “grow lights” to help sustain a variety of tropical plants. In addition, the store has 94 solar panels that will offset part of its overall energy consumption. Customers also will have access to EV charging stations.
Core mattress brands shown at Tepperman’s include Stearns & Foster, Sealy, Tempur-Pedic, Drew & Jonathan Home, Kingsdown and Beautyrest. Upholstery brands include Décor-Rest, La-Z-Boy, Ashley, Cozzia, and major case goods brands include Canadel and Vokes.
As part of the opening, the company is making a contribution of $25,000 to five local charities chosen as part of a voting process involving community members. Three generations of the Tepperman family also will be on hand for the May 3 ribbon-cutting ceremony. Joining them will be members of the company’s executive team along with Mayor Matt Siscoe, city council members and members of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce.
