Spectra Home launches outdoor furniture line

New category will be sold under the Spectra Outdoor brand

HIGH POINT — Upholstery manufacturer Spectra Home is taking its upper-end looks in living room furniture to the outdoor category with a new line of luxury outdoor furniture, a brand-new category for the company that it will market as Spectra Outdoor.

At next week’s premarket here, the company is unveiling a group of upholstered sectionals, sofas, benches, and swivel and sling chairs featuring a mix of woven and wood frames. The line also includes companion cocktail and end tables made with teak and aluminum frames.

The Pasadena sectional is among the new outdoor groups that are being introduced in Spectra Outdoor this spring.

The upholstered pieces are in 100% solution-dyed acrylic performance fabric covers, which the company said have the highest level of durability and cleanability as well as stain and fade resistance.

Some of the seating silhouettes also are fully upholstered, featuring large pillows and cushions offering deep seating. Such features give them the look of indoor furniture that could as easily be placed in a living room as on a patio, deck or screened-in porch.

“Our research shows that consumers want their outdoor lifestyle spaces to blend with their indoor areas and to have the same ambience,” said Jim Telleysh, president of Spectra Home. “Our new Spectra Outdoor collection offers just that. It has the same comfort and finely crafted detailing found in our indoor line except it is designed to be enjoyed outside.”

The Mendocino group includes upholstery and companion occasional tables.

“You will also find some of the same indoor tailoring — slipcovered sofas, swivel chairs or wide flange trim on the cushions and frame — are being used on our outdoor pieces as well,” he added. “On other outdoor pieces we used acrylic rope and woven accents to create a nautical expression.”

The company did not provide specific pricing for its initial announcement but will be able to discuss those details with dealers at premarket and market. The company is showing the lineup at its showroom at 200 N. Hamilton St. in High Point.
