HFA announces new slate of officers

Roseville, Calif, — The North American Home Furnishings Assn. has named David Gunn, of Knight Furniture in Sherman, Texas, president of the retailer association for 2021.

Gunn’s appointment, along with a slate of other officers to lead the organization, was announced Friday following a Jan. 21 annual membership meeting. Usually, HFA members would meet during the January Las Vegas Market, but the postponement of that event required HFA to go virtual. the group said.

The other 2021 officers announced are Stan Pickett, Quality Furniture, president-elect; Travis Garrish, Forma Furniture, vice president; and Matt Schultz of John V Schultz, secretary/treasurer. Stepping up to the Executive Committee HFA’s board are Mitchell Stiles of Badcock Home Furniture & more, and Lenny Kharitonov of Emma Mason.

Jesús Capó of El Dorado Furniture was named chairman after two years as HFA President. In a release, Capó said, “It has been an honor to work with the board and the HFA staff over the last two years. Together we helped members meet the challenges of the pandemic.”

During the meeting, Shannon Williams, HFA’s chief operating officer note 270 members joined the association during 2020, and HFA nearly doubled the number of new partners to better serve members.

“The numbers tell us the struggles you face are real, and there is a growing need for solutions we can provide,” said HFA CEO Mark Schumacher. “I have tremendous confidence in our team and our strong board leadership to help members navigate 2021.”

Also during the meeting, Gunn said, “I believe the association is positioned to strongly support our members and meet their changing needs in 2021,” according to a release
