Discover ADAC event set for Sept. 19-21

ATLANTA – In the design industry, movement is constant. From new talents with fresh voices to novel artisans with groundbreaking vision, the magic of discovery is always in motion. Whatever the journey, what emerges is where design comes to light. ADAC, (Atlanta Decorative Arts Center) the premiere design center in the Southeast, invites guests to experience new phases of design at its annual fall market, Discover ADAC from Sept. 19-21.

Attendees can experience where design comes to light through a diverse lineup of keynote speakers, informative showroom presentations, groundbreaking business and product launches, book signings with high-profile authors, parties, and more. In conjunction with Discover ADAC, attendees can indulge in a trilogy of design sourcing opportunities through the fall market and first-ever Outdoor Design Days at AmericasMart Atlanta, running Sept. 18-20.

Through three days of free programming, Discover ADAC will offer attendees the opportunity to experience the magic of discovery through immersive design.

Guests can anticipate an intriguing keynote presentation on The Power of the Past in Present Design with Flower magazine Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Margot Shaw, along with celebrated designers, Barry Dixon and Jared Hughes, and Jean Monro owner, Matt Gomez; a book discussion and signing with Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, the principals of Carrier and Company Interiors, who have worked on projects such as the residence of Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue; a look at Osborne & Little’s 17 new collections for fall 2023; a panel discussion with Luxe Interiors + Design Homes Editor Kate Abney along with Beth Webb, Cheryl Luckett, Kelley Lentini, and Berkeley Minkhorst; a 10th Anniversary celebration of MILIEU with Design Director Leslie Newsom Rascoe and Michael Del Piero of Good Design and Rozanne Jackson of The Iron Gate; a look into color’s transformative power through a presentation with Pierre Frey,
Benjamin Moore, Melanie Millner, Monet Masters, and David Frazier, led by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Editor-in-Chief, Lauren Iverson; and a debut book signing with Stan Dixon.

Tuesday, Sept. 19
+ 10:00 a.m. EDT – The Power of the Past in Present Design | ADAC Presentation Room, First Floor Atrium – Sponsored by Flower magazine and Fabricut

Join Flower magazine’s founder and Editor-in-Chief, Margot Shaw, along with celebrated interior designers Barry Dixon and Jared Hughes, and Jean Monro owner, Matt Gomez, for an engaging conversation about the appeal and application of traditional elements in today’s design. Celebrate the beauty of this storied aesthetic and discover how timeless design continues to shape our collective narrative as these captivating tastemakers share how they reimagine heritage brands and bespoke fabrics for today.

Following the presentation, all attendees are invited to join Margot, Barry, Jared, and Matt for a reception hosted by Fabricut. While in the showroom, peruse new introductions from the British-based line Jean Munro which has been the fabric choice of many set designers and has been incorporated into the TV series Bridgerton, The Crown, and other highly acclaimed TV shows and movies (Fabricut, Suite 307).

Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, the principals of Carrier and Company Interiors, are a New York-based husband-and-wife interior design team. Their projects have ranged from family lake houses to the primary residence of Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, and the studio of fashion designer Jason Wu. At Discover ADAC, they join Betsy Riley, editor-in-chief of Atlanta Magazine and Atlanta Magazine’s Home to talk about projects featured in their latest book, “Defining Chic,” and their collaborations with Century Furniture.

Learn how this duo imbues spaces with the personality and style of their owners while showcasing their core dedication to décor that feels effortless, essential, and light of spirit. They’ll also share what they’ve learned about product design through collaborations with Century and other luxury brands. Following the presentation, join Riley, Carrier, and Miller for hors d’oeuvres and a meet-and-greet with the talented design duo. Wednesday, Sept. 20

Trusted collaborator to powerhouse designers from Charlotte Moss to Suzanne Kasler and Jackye Lanham, Stan Dixon of D. Stanley Dixon Architect has amassed a portfolio of historically based designs that cross genre and style, and that rise as striking reflections of those who inhabit them. The multi-year winner of the Southeast Architect of the Year and recipient of 19 Philip Trammell Shutze awards will sit down with Veranda Executive Editor Ellen McGauley to talk about designing from a place of authenticity, what every house needs to be successful, and why his adopted hometown of Atlanta is his most powerful design influence of all.

Moderated by Milieu Design Director Leslie Newsom Rascoe, the talk focuses on how these two forces of nature – in their ethos and design practice – create new yet timeless and natural interiors, manage their clientele and storefront, and continue to evolve their own design styles.
