TOTOWA, N.J. – Precision Textiles, a leading supplier of coated fabrics, nonwovens and laminations for the bedding, automotive, health care and home furnishings industries, has introduced IQ Fit Glass Free HD to provide more robust protection for today’s cooling technologies and latex mattresses.
Precision’s new product is the most robust glass free FR solution engineered to date. The product has been designed to provide greater protection for mattresses with higher combustible fuel loads including designs such as latex, PCM topical-foam coatings and other cooling technologies.
IQ FIT Glass Free HD is the newest addition to Precision’s glass free line and maintains its original 100-percent glass free, chemical-free knit construction design. It was created to offer manufacturers an FR solution to their most challenging and volatile mattress designs.
“As mattress manufacturers continue to innovate with new technologies, our products need to keep pace so that the consumer gets the right level of protection in the FR barriers, but without compromising any of the comfort feel or other components in the product,” said Keith Martin, vice president and textile engineer at Precision Textiles.
“This new, higher-performance, FR solution system has demonstrated CFR 1633 compliance protection in mattress designs that contain natural latex and PCM topical foam layers, coupled with cooling technology fabrics that often create problematic compliance requirements for our customers,” he added. “IQ FIT Glass Free HD takes the guesswork out of new product development and compliance requirements, while still maintaining Proposition 65 and New York State’s recently implemented FR use regulations.”
The entire IQ FIT Glass Free family including the new HD, is made with FR cellulosic fiber, which provides maximum FR protection at a high char strength and is highly breathable. In the sock and cap formats, IQ Fit Glass Free HD conforms to the mattress like a glove. The open-width version is designed to be laminated to the underside of mattress ticking.
The new technology is UL Greenguard Gold certified and certified under the United States Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred® Program, which aligns with consumer and market sustainability trends.
