Gallery Furniture lets customers bet on winning party of upcoming presidential election

Those who choose the winner could see big savings on purchases of $6,000 or more

HOUSTON — Jim McIngvale, the owner of Gallery Furniture known for placing large wagers on sporting events as part of its promotions, is now letting his customers place a bet on which party will win in the upcoming presidential election.

Gallery’s Presidential Payback promotion lets customers predict which party — Democrat or Republican — they believe will win in November. If they choose the winning party, they can get 50% of their purchase back, plus free delivery in the Houston area.

To participate, they must purchase at least $6,000 worth of furniture. The contest also is limited to one entry per household. And by filling out the form, they also get $500 off a future purchase of $2,500 or more.

“Are you ready to make a bold prediction for the 2024 presidential election?” the promotion reads. “With this exclusive promotion, it’s not just about picking a party — it’s about winning big. … Participate today and be part of the excitement!”

McIngvale told Home News Now that this is similar to presidential election-related sales promotions Gallery has offered in the past.

“The promotion is pretty self-explanatory,” he said of the ad, which doesn’t mention any specific candidates by name this early in the political process. “People certainly have their opinions and it’s created some conversation. That is all we are looking for — to create some conversation.”

Of course, in these challenging times when retailers are trying to draw foot traffic and business, it also could be a big win-win not just for Gallery, but also for those customers that end up choosing the winning party.
