Top unsecured creditors identified in The RoomPlace bankruptcy

CHICAGO — Two separate groups of Top 20 unsecured creditors in The RoomPlace Chapter 11 bankruptcy have nearly $9.9 million in claims, according to bankruptcy documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The retailer filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 2. The top unsecured creditors identified in related documents are among more than 200 overall impacted by the bankruptcy.

An unsecured creditor is typically a supplier or credit card company that does not hold a lien on a debtor’s property which, in turn, would help assure payment. A secured creditor, such as a bank, typically holds a lien on the debtor’s property as collateral.

The creditors are identified in two separate lists, including one for The RoomPlace furniture and bedding. This first list includes claims totaling $5,873,600.

The Top 20 unsecured creditors and amounts owed to those companies are as follows:

+ HHC USA Corp. – $585,083

+ Simmons – $460,921

+ Jason Furniture d/b/a Kuka – $379,894

+ FGMK – $300,870

+ BBP VII – $278,223

+ Rim Logistics – $267,682

+ Jackson Furniture Industries – $248,938

+ James Campbell Co. – $216,952

+ Sofamaster – $205,320

+ JPMCC  – $187,142

+ BBP II $174,999

+ Guardian Protection Products – $171,647

+ A&R Katz Management – $163,473

+ Steve Silver Co. – $161,810

+ Ashley Furniture – $154,070

+ BBP V – $133,777

+ Elements International Group – $117,803

+ Proving Ground d/b/a Dragon Army – $108,719

A second list of 20 unsecured creditors was also identified for TRP Brands, the e-commerce part of the retailer’s business. Those companies are owed just over $4 million. Note that a few of these companies and their claims are repeated from the above listing:
