Soundstage USA merges audio technology with designer looks in seating

Soundstage sofas, sectionals and modular seating units offer advanced digital signal processing high-definition sound with up to 12 preinstalled, concealed speakers

HIGH POINT — Compared to the whiz-bang consumer electronics segment, home furnishings  have often taken a back seat in terms of innovation and for incorporating next-generation technology.

However, an expanding line of furniture that marries cutting-edge audio technology with designer seating appears to be turning up the volume with both consumers and retailers looking for innovative seating solutions for the home.

Leading the charge is Soundstage USA, founded in 2017 by Joe Savovic, a 40-year home furnishings veteran who has earned a reputation for creating solution-based products.

Joe Savovic, founder of Soundstage USA, points to the concealed speakers in a sectional.

According to Savovic, the growing footprint technology is having on everyday life, coupled with the growing trend for workers to work at home, has set the stage for the company’s assortment of seating products, all of which incorporate patented, cutting-edge sound technology.

Savovic explains that “all Soundstage sofas, sectionals and modular seating units feature advanced DSP high-definition sound with up to 12 preinstalled, concealed speakers and up to two subwoofers for rich, deep bass. The sound spectrum delivered by all Soundstage state-of-the-art systems is incredibly clean, crisp and pure to the most discriminating audiophiles. But it is more than just great sound— it’s beautiful designer seating that everyone can enjoy!”

Currently, the company offers some 30 groups with Bluetooth and will add six additional styles at the upcoming October market. Prices currently range from $899 for chairs to $2,999 for the modular seating groups.

Savovic is quick to point out that the Soundstage lineup of products offers consumers much more than just finely designed furniture with hidden audio capabilities. “About one-third of the people over the age of 50 have some form of hearing deficiency,” he asserted.

“However, thanks to our Patented Aura Personal Sound Amplification technology that is found in all Soundstage Intellichairs, Aura lets the user hear the TV or conversations in the room from up to 25 feet away without the use of headphones or connections of any kind,” Savovic confirms, adding, “and at the press of a button, the IntelliChair allows the user to send sound to either the left ear, or right ear or both, depending on the ear that needs the extra help.”

The furniture is also able to connect seamlessly to any Bluetooth-enabled device, making it possible for the user to make hands-free calls, enjoy gaming, and to listen to his or her favorite music.

While acknowledging that a few other companies are testing somewhat similar products, Savovic said, “We are the only company that put sound in every piece of furniture.

“And unlike some others who have gone to furniture OEMs to source their sound components, we went to one of the top offshore sound labs that sent engineers to our factory to understand exactly what we wanted, then went back and designed and produced speakers and proprietary chip sets just for us,” Savovic explained.

Realizing that multifunction furniture sells best when understood best, the company has produced a series of short videos geared toward educating the consumer. However, while the videos highlight the full array of features and functions for consumers, they also perform double-duty in that they also help train the retail sales associates.

“Being able to help train the retailer’s sales team is critical because turnover on the sales floor can be has high as 30%,” he said.

The company also has feature-and-benefit product videos on YouTube. You can watch one here.

The company did an initial rollout with Top 100 retailers, including The RoomPlace, and with more than 100 American Signature Furniture locations.

To simplify the demo process for retailers wanting to show customers multiple Soundstage products, Savovic invented something he calls “Superlink.” This technology allows retailers who have multiple Soundstage pieces on the sales floor to pair more than one set at a time and synchronize every set on the floor instantly with the press of a button.

“All of our products are available in a broad assortment of styles, colors and materials and are made in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Asia and  Mexico,” Savovic said, adding, “Once a consumer sits on one of our pieces and hears the amazing audio quality, the furniture really sells itself.”

At market the company shows in space 214 of the Atrium at 430 S. Main St.
