LENOIR, N.C. — March 2, 2023 — Fairfield, a Caldwell County-based provider of premium furnishings, upholstery, and case goods, has been recognized at the Governor’s Export Awards.
In an early February ceremony at the North Carolina Executive Mansion, Fairfield accepted the 2022 Governor’s Export Award for “Large Business” from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). Governor Roy Cooper and the EDPNC honored seven North Carolina companies for their sales success in international markets.
In their pursuit of growing international sales, Fairfield and other honored manufacturers have collaborated with the state through services delivered by the EDPNC. The EDPNC’s international trade team assisted over 500 companies throughout North Carolina in 2022 and they awarded the seven companies that rose to the top.

With the support of the EDPNC, Fairfield is able to continue focusing on our goals of increasing the export of handcrafting quality furniture and providing careers for the talented artisans of Lenoir, North Carolina,” said Dixon Mitchell, CEO of Fairfield.
In a statement, Governor Roy Cooper highlighted the significance of North Carolina’s presence in the global economy.
“North Carolina was able to export more than $40 billion in goods and services to more than 200 countries, showing the global economy has a demand for North Carolina products. North Carolina is able to meet that demand and have a major presence in the global market all due to companies like the ones we are recognizing today.”
