HIGH POINT — Changes at Atrium on Main have caused the opportunity for some existing tenants to expand and other new ones to move into the building.
The recent relocation of Hughes Furniture to the Market on Main building at 233 S. Main St. has freed up additional space in the building, said John Schenk, building manager.
In addition, Avalon Furniture, which previously occupied two showrooms on two separate floors, has expanded its main showroom so it is all on one floor of the building in Space 100.
Bernards Furniture also expanded on the second floor in Space 201, while MDA Rug Imports moved to Space 115, tripling in size. Null Furniture has moved to the first floor, occupying Spaces 103 and 104.
Other existing tenants that have moved and/or expanded in their present locations include Simply Bunkbeds, Space 102; Titanic Furniture, Space 320; and Urban Styles, Spaces 304 and 305.
New tenants include American Star Mattress, Space T-100; Carolina Live Edge, Space T-104; Golden Home, Space T-103; Fashion Bed Group, Space 203; Hilltop Hickory Furniture, second floor foyer; Jacobsen Home Co., Space 206; and UMotion, Spaces 109-114.
Schenk said with these additions and expansions, the 230,000-square-foot building is 100% occupied.
“It is probably the largest activity we have had between markets,” he said, noting that companies are positioning themselves for a strong April and October market. “The Hughes move allowed tenants to grow that wanted to grow,” he added.
He also noted that strong demand has had the building turning some companies away. This is perhaps because of some of the interest in companies setting up showrooms on the south side of the market where the Atrium is positioned.
Perhaps the most recent and best example of this is Homelegance’s move into the former Zaki Rugs building at 600 S. Main. It will show in part of the 100,000-square-foot building this market with plans to have an even bigger display occupying the rest of the available showroom space in October. Others that also have moved toward the south side of town include Vaughan-Bassett, which recently opened its new showroom in the Furniture First building at 336 S. Main St.
Other major showrooms in this area include the Elements International showroom at 411 S. Main St., the Riverside Furniture Showroom at 401 S. Main St., Parker House Furniture at 309 S. Elm St. and Holland House Furniture at 449 S. Wrenn St. The Holland House building is also occupied by Davis Direct, Folio 21 and Intercon, to name a few.
