OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Bedding manufacturer Corsicana Mattress Company is closing its Symbol production plant here in October as part of its ongoing bankruptcy restructuring plan.
The move will affect 52 workers.
The company said that production from the 370,000-square-foot facility, which it acquired in April 2021, will be moved to its Shelbyville, Tennessee and Bartow, Florida plants.
“This realignment is necessary to continue transforming our manufacturing footprint to become more agile and operationally effective,” said company CEO Eric Rhea. “We are investing heavily in our Corsicana, Shelbyville and Bartow facilities and have the capacity and ability to effectively service our customers in the Southern region. We greatly appreciate the support from the local community and employees as we make this transition.”
Rhea added that streamlining the business is necessary to continue as “the industry’s value-priced bedding leader and part of our plan as we near our emergence from the Chapter 11 restructuring process.”
