Broad River Retail receives Fast 50 Award from Charlotte Business Journal

Fort Mill, SC – Broad River Retail (BRR), one of the largest and fastest-growing independently owned and operated Ashley Store licensees, achieved the recognition of the Charlotte Business Journal’s (CBJ) Fast 50 Award.

“The Charlotte Business Journal’s Fast 50 accolade would not be possible without our people, also known as our Memory Makers,” Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail President and CEO said. “They are the ones who make the success and achievements of Broad River Retail possible. Through the tumultuous times of the pandemic and economic uncertainty, our Memory Makers continue to be heroic.”

“Broad River Retail is honored and humbled to be included on the Fast 50 list. It is a very special accolade, and we are among many incredible Charlotte businesses that are making a great impact on our community. Broad River sends our congratulations to the other businesses that were recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal,” Malouf added.

This is the second time BRR is amongst Charlotte Business Journal’s Fast 50. The award program highlights the Charlotte region’s fastest-growing private companies. The rankings are based on the average percentage of annual growth over the three-year period of 2019-2021. Companies also needed to have at least $1 million in sales in 2021 and be headquartered in the greater Charlotte metro area. Earlier this year, Broad River Retail ranked #31 on CBJ’s list of largest private companies in Charlotte.

“Broad River Retail’s recognition as one of Charlotte’s largest and fastest-growing private companies is a testament to our team’s grit and resiliency,” Manny Rodrigues, chief operating officer said. “The Fast 50 recognition is a true representation of how we are thriving as a company. This award provides us with more momentum to continue marching forward and pursuing excellence each day.”

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Fort Mill, South Carolina, Broad River Retail is one of the largest independently owned Ashley licensees, with 27 Ashley stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia and four Ashley Outlets. The privately held company employs over 900 at its stores, three distribution centers, and two corporate campuses.

Broad River Retail recently announced construction has begun on its 32nd Ashley store in Salisbury, North Carolina. This two-in-one concept store is an Ashley store and an Ashley Outlet under one roof. It is BRR’s largest redevelopment project to date. BRR celebrated store grand openings in Greenwood, SC, and Southern Pines, NC, as well as a distribution center grand opening in Spartanburg, SC in 2022.
