SILVER LAKE, Ind. — Importer Home Design Inc. has recalled more than 583,000 upholstered platform beds in the U.S. and Canada because of a fall and injury hazard to consumers.
This week, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on its website, noting that the recalled beds have components that can break, sag or collapse during use. The company has received 128 reports of the beds breaking, sagging or collapsing during use, including 36 injuries.
The recall includes 527,177 beds sold in the U.S. and 55,847 sold in Canada. Several different models are covered, a description of which can be found here.
Made in Malaysia, they were imported by Home Design Inc. and sold at Wayfair, Walmart.com and Overstock.com from July 2018 through November 2023 for between $100 and $300.
Consumers have been advised to stop using the recalled beds immediately and contact Home Design for free replacement slats and side rails. In order to receive the free repair/replacement parts, consumers must send an image of the bed and an image of the law label on the bed, or proof of purchase to recall@homedesign-us.com. The company also is contacting known purchasers directly.
