Simply Solid Bedrooms to launch solid wood bedroom-in-a-box concept in Las Vegas

Launch aims to provide a small parcel, easy-to-assemble RTA bedroom solution while also solving the problem of deliveries to multi-story apartments, condos and smaller homes

LAS VEGAS — Simply Solid Bedrooms, a division of mattress resource Eurosleep USA, is launching a small parcel solid wood bedroom-in-a-box concept at the winter Las Vegas Market to complement its existing bed-in-a-box mattress program.

Made in Brazil with plantation-grown solid pine, the bedroom comes in two finishes — a natural pine and a lighter antique white tone — and includes a bed, nightstand and other companion case pieces including chests and dressers. The bed is available in twin, full, queen, king and Cal king sizes with a queen retailing at $399.

“With competition so intense in the ‘bed-in-a-box’ channel, we felt the time was right to offer the opportunity to sell bedroom pieces along with mattress sales,” said Eurosleep CEO Jack DeBonis, adding that this is a way to differentiate the bed-in-a-box product by offering a companion bedroom set.

He also noted that the concept is expected to be popular among brick-and-mortar retailers who are looking to add an easy-to-assemble RTA concept for their floors while also addressing furniture deliveries to multistory units or older homes.

In addition, the line offers a patent-pending assembly process that he said takes about half the time to put together as other RTA products, using screws and solid wood components versus cam locks and chip-core boards that can become brittle and unstable over time.

Other resources have offered a bedroom-in-a-box concept featuring solid wood components including youth resource InRoom Designs. A distinguishing factor here is that the bedroom sets can be sold with the mattress, adding value to the bed-in-a-box concept.

Simply Solid Bedrooms will debut at the Specialty Sleep Association showroom on the 15th floor of Building C.

This is the bedroom offered in the Simply Solid Bedrooms program. It is shown in a natural pine finish, one of two available.

Set to begin shipping in March, the beds and rails ship separately and all other pieces come in one carton. With the sets meeting UPS and FedEx shipping requirements, DeBonis said that he expects quite a few headboard-only sales as they can mate with a metal frame to hit a lower price point.

He also said it is up to the retailer whether they wish to buy the bed or full bedroom along with the mattress or just the bedroom only.

He noted that the bedrooms ship via direct container, but that the company also is exploring partial LTL shipments so that multiple orders can be shipped on a container.  He said the sets also are STURDY Act compliant having met the testing requirements of the federal anti-tipping standards that went into effect last year.
