SEFFNER, Fla. — In response to what officials are calling the first action the Consumer Product Safety Commission has taken related to a violation of the STURDY Act, 200 dressers sold exclusively at Rooms To Go are being recalled because the agency said they pose a tip-over hazard.
The recall involves the Mill Valley Jr. six-drawer youth dresser available in either a white or cherry finish with model numbers C2192Y-N04 and C2193Y-N04. The dressers are about 57 ½ inches long by 18 inches wide by 35 inches high and weigh about 132 pounds. They also have a white label on the rear panel that identifies the units as either “C2192Y-N04” (White) or “C2193Y-N04” (Cherry).
The units were made in Vietnam and imported by LFN Limited of China. They were sold at Rooms To Go stores nationwide and online at www.roomstogo.com from December 2023 through January 2024 for about $450.
Although no incidents or injuries have been reported, the CPSC said the units violate the performance requirements of the STURDY (Stop Tip Overs of Risky Dressers on Youth) Act and are unstable if not properly anchored to the wall. This can result in serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in injuries to children.
Consumers have been advised to stop using the dressers immediately and keep them away from children. Consumers can also contact Rooms To Go, which will schedule a free delivery of a replacement dresser and have the recalled unit removed from their home. The CPSC said that Rooms To Go is contacting all known purchasers directly.
